One year ago, on October 25, 2024, Comforting Home Care by Phoebe celebrated the grand opening of its offices at Phoebe Allentown.
As the region’s premier home care provider, Comforting Home Care has remained a pillar of the services we offer at Phoebe Ministries for a decade. Although the company had already resided in an office at Phoebe Berks, opening an additional office at Phoebe Allentown created more opportunities to connect with the community.
“We’re right here on campus,” says Tammie Worley, Director of Comforting Home Care by Phoebe and Licensed Practical Nurse. “If there is an immediate need, we can go downstairs and meet with them. It’s been a big help. We’re also right across the street from the Terrace.”
Since the Comforting Home Care team moved in at Phoebe Allentown, the company has been able to offer increasingly streamlined care to better address each community’s needs, including Phoebe Richland and Chestnut Ridge at Rodale.
As of October 2025, Comforting Home Care by Phoebe serves roughly 90 clients across the region. One of the main draws of the service is that care can be offered in flexible increments of time, even as little as 15 minutes.
“This flexibility is very important for the residents at Phoebe because it allows them to be able to stay in their apartments even if they only need minimal care,” says Worley. A 15-minute session might be as simple as a medication reminder or assistance with putting on compression socks. A 30-minute session might address meal prep or trouble getting dressed for those with mobility challenges.
Another thing that has set Comforting Home Care apart is the people at the heart of the company’s services.
“We have nurses running the show and conducting assessments, whereas many competitors have businesspeople,” says Worley. “Because we are nurses, we care and love what we do. We’re passionate about helping people stay in their homes.”
There is plenty for Worley and her team to be proud of after a year at Phoebe Allentown: “When you do things with care and love, it’s easy to be proud,” she says. “The most rewarding part of my job is helping people be where they are. We also have the opportunity to support employees and their families. I’ve had some sensitive conversations with the families of clients. Simply letting them know that they’re doing a good job and helping them through that time is a blessing.”
