For two days in a row, students representing the RJ Fellows Honors Program at Muhlenberg College spent the morning with residents of Miller Personal Care at 19th and Chew.
The program allows students to participate in humanities and outreach projects that contribute to the life of the local community.
When the group arrived at the Miller building, they first introduced themselves to residents through a series of cards with questions on them. The purpose of the questions was to connect the two generations on a deeper level.
Once everyone got acquainted, the group decided on a game of bingo. Students played alongside residents and helped run the activity. Lucky winners received puzzles and pens as prizes.
Students laughed along with residents throughout the game as it got more intense. There were many moments where it came down to the wire before a winner was crowned.
“Seeing a group of bright, young scholars connect with our residents was delightful,” says Phoebe Allentown Executive Director Sandra Stiles. “We loved seeing these two generations come together.”
Thank you to Muhlenberg College for making our mornings at the Miller building even better!
