Conference on the Changing Face of Senior Care Offered by the Phoebe Institute on Aging

Allentown, PA – The Phoebe Institute on Aging is offering a conference to educate aging services professionals and family caregivers about how the current dynamic healthcare and political environments can inspire new trends and service lines in senior care. The Changing Face of Care: Serving Older Adults in a Dynamic Environment, presented by Cura Hospitality, will take place on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at DeSales University, University Center, 2755 Station Ave, Center Valley, PA 18034.

The fee for the conference is $25 and includes a continental breakfast, pre-conference screening of Finding Penelope, a morning program, buffet lunch and a full afternoon of breakout session programs.

The keynote presenter at the conference is Dr. Robyn I. Stone, who currently serves as Executive Director and Senior Vice President of Research at the LeadingAge Center for Applied Research. The Center has earned a national reputation for its ability to translate research findings into real-world policies and practices that improve the lives of older Americans and their caregivers.

Stone will provide an overview of the changing demographic characteristics that will drive the demand for aging services over the next 25 years and the shifting policy landscape that will influence how services are financed and delivered in the United States and Pennsylvania.

The afternoon will feature three segments of break-out sessions which will center on the topics of Greenhouses, person centered care, partnerships, the demographics of our aging population, health care reform and the governmental policies that are impacting senior care.

Finding Penelope is a documentary which chronicles a unique collaboration between a retirement community, a university, and a theater company. The film is a compelling exploration of how elders (of all abilities), college students, and actors came together to learn and ultimately to produce a professional play within a retirement community.

Applications have been submitted for Nursing, Nursing Home Administrator, Personal Care Home Administrator, Social Work, Community Life, and Pastoral Care continuing education credits.

Online registration and a full list of speakers and sessions are available at www.phoebe.org/piaconference. The deadline for registration is March 6. Please call 610-794-5150 with any questions.
