Happy Valentine’s Day to our Phoebe Staff and Residents!

Across all our campuses, the Phoebe community is taking a moment to celebrate love, including Terrace couple Edwin and Margaret Ahlum. The pair first met on a blind date set up by Edwin’s friend. A student at the time, Edwin would travel to Philadelphia from Moravian College to pick her up for a date. They hit it off immediately and were engaged six weeks later.

The two met at an opportune time as Edwin needed a date for the school prom. Margaret ended up winning the distinction of prom queen that year. The two have been happily married for 70 years since then.

Initially, Edwin was hesitant about moving to Phoebe Allentown, and he wasn’t head-over-heels about the idea of selling their house. Margaret had a mother who lived at Phoebe, so she was familiar with the level of care the organization provides.

Since the couple moved in, Edwin’s outlook on Phoebe has completely changed. “We love it,” he says. They say that living at the Terrace has been hugely beneficial in terms of day-to-day mobility and not having to take care of a large home.

We hope this Valentine’s Day brings the Ahlums and the Phoebe community lots of love.
