Age of Champions is the inspiring story of a group of athletes—a 100 year old tennis champion, an 86-year old pole vaulter, a team of basketball grandmothers, and a pair of swimming brothers—all chasing gold at the National Senior Olympics. The film captures the triumphant spirit of these competitors as they tackle the challenges of old age with grace, humor and optimism.

These screenings are in conjunction with The Phoebe Institute on Aging Fall Conference which features an appearance by the film’s producer, Keith Ochwat. Entitled The Age of Champions: Promoting Senior Wellness, the free conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18 in the Community Services Center at Lehigh Carbon Community College, 4525 Education Park Drive, Schnecksville.  The conference is free but pre-registration is required by October 4. Visit www.phoebe.org/piaconference to register online or call 610-794-5135 or e-mail [email protected].

Age of Champions made its world premiere at the 2011 Silverdocs Film Festival and was heralded by the Washington Post as “infectiously inspiring.”  The Age of Champions filmmakers launched a nationwide grassroots screening initiative in partnership with AARP, National Council on Aging, and National Senior Games Association. The film began airing nationally on PBS stations in July of 2013. For more information about the film, visit www.ageofchampions.org.
