Phoebe Ministries a not-for-profit, Continuing Care Retirement Community, is seeking interested Speech Therapists to join our Therapy department on a per diem basis to work in our Wyncote campus.
Master’s degree in Speech Pathology or Communications Disorder and attainment of Certification of Clinical competence in speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with patients, staff, care-givers, management, physicians, and related interdisciplinary professionals, internally and externally in verbal and written modalities, sometimes via telephone. Must have precise accurate articulation, hearing with normal limits (aided or un-aided) and audible voice for verbal communication, for analysis of patients speech utterances, and for providing accurate speech models. Must have good interpersonal skills and work appropriately with persons of varied ages, racial, ethnic and sociological background.
Two or more years’ experience in providing clinical services in acute or post-acute health care setting and to medically stable outpatients of all ages, is preferred.
The Speech Pathologist provides diagnostic evaluation/screening, treatment and counseling services to inpatients (geriatric adults) with the following communication and /or swallowing disorders of: adult receptive and expressive language, higher level cognitive-linguistic functions, articulation, fluency, oral musculature weakness/in coordination, apraxia, dysphagia and voice-including laryngectomy. The Speech Pathologist prepares written reports/records relative to assessment of patients, development/implementation of Plan of Care, re-evaluation/discharge summaries and education/counseling of patients and/or care-givers. She communicates in writing and/or verbally, the results of assessment/treatment and other significant findings to the patients, physician(s), and interdisciplinary professionals involved in the patient’s care. The position as such, requires a significant degree of independent judgment in the performance of clinical services, administrative duties, and Quality Assessment and Improvement responsibilities for the Speech Pathology department.
