BASIC REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing; current Pennsylvania license to practice as a Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse. (If Licensed Practical Nurse it is desirable to pursue licensure as a Registered Nurse) Expectations: Ability to demonstrate the clinical skills your direct reports are expected to perform
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working as a charge nurse in a long-term care geriatric setting normally required.

Oversight: Provides oversight and direction for care of residents on the unit.
Accountability: Holds self, charge nurses and nursing assistants accountable for the ownership of their behaviors, their functioning as a unified team, and, their achievement of their behavioral and functional outcomes and metrics.
Mentor Employees: Develop relationships with direct reports through coaching. Address issues in real time; give performance/competency feedback, review behavioral/values and future development. Educate/discipline as needed.
Flexibility: Flexes schedule on RCC days to ensure communication with all shifts and oversight on all shifts as needed. Accept 24/7 ownership of the unit.
Communication: Keeps personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures affecting the department and/or their jobs; creates an atmosphere in which upward communication from employees is encouraged. Responds to questions relating to particular requests from residents, staff personnel within acceptable time frames. Remains a visible force on the unit.
Collaboration/Teamwork: Ensures Charge nurses consistently own, develop, lead and manage their direct reports. Instills a culture of teamwork.
Stewardship: Seek out opportunities to decrease departmental expenses and waste.
