We are currently seeking a Full Time Health Information Manager, preferably with experience in working with older adults in the long term care setting. Applicants should have strong clinical, communicative and organizational skills and be interested in joining our evolving department to provide excellent quality of care to our residents.
The HIM responsibilities include performing a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and maintenance of resident record information and filing in the Medical Record Department; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; analysis of records; responding to inquiries and requests from staff personnel, review of resident records and assignment of ICD10 codes to diagnoses, Release of Information, Open, organize, and close medical records. Audit medical records to ensure accuracy of the information.
– Graduate of 2 – 4 year program specializing in Health Information Management
– Certified by American Health Information Management Association preferred (RHIT RHIA)
– Certification through the accredited American Health Information Management Association or American Association of Professional Coders
Knowledge of Medical Terminology and health care routines. Knowledge of ICD9/10 Coding assignment for Long Term Care. Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills. Good interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient typing skills; moderate computer skills. Excellent organizational skills. Attention to detail a must. Knowledge of operating basic office equipment essential; equipment including, but not limited to, photocopier, and fax machine. Knowledge of general office procedures essential; including, but not limited to, photocopying forms, and assisting with light clerical duties as requested; knowledge of and ability to perform data entry and word processing with a high degree of accuracy is necessary for this position. Able to work independently and autonomously in carrying out protocol for nursing materials and supply.
