Phoebe Ministries a not-for-profit, multi-facility care organization is seeking an experienced Financial Counselor to join us on a full time basis on our Berks campus.
Primary responsibilities will include:
The revenue cycle is defined as all administrative functions that contribute to the capture, management and collection of client service revenue. The Financial Counselor is responsible for enhancing and maintaining a properly functioning revenue cycle process through a cross-department, cross organization structure. These functional areas act interdependently during a client stay, contributing required information for procuring payment. Obtains, educates & counsels current residents to identify, disclose and properly complete asset tests and Medical Assistance applications. Generates monthly bills for skilled nursing.residents. ; manages all financial related information/documentation during the resident’s length of stay; repeats asset test for all current SNF residents within the specified regulatory timeframes. Handles all payments remitted to the business office; performs deposits and cash postings as necessary and as directed.
The Financial Counselor is expected to demonstrate, through plans and actions, that there is a consistent standard of excellence to which all departmental work is expected to conform. Such standard should be based on establishing and maintaining a constancy of purpose, focusing on continuous improvement and delivering the highest degree of customer service and quality as possible.
Experience/Skills: Minimum one (2) years’ experience in related positions required. Degree in Business Administration or related course of study preferred. Proficient reading, writing, grammar and mathematical skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative and customer service skills; proficient word processing/data entry skills; knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Working knowledge in the area of client registration, billing, accounts receivable and cash management, industry regulations and business office operations, insurance benefits & refund processing.
