Phoebe Berks Olympics Video Receives AVA Digital Award

Allentown, PA— A mini-documentary capturing the Phoebe Berks Olympics, an event that occurred last June, has been named a recipient in the International AVA Digital Awards 2014 competition. AVA Digital Awards is an international competition that recognizes outstanding work by creative professionals involved in the concept, direction, design, and production of media. Approximately 2,100 entries throughout the United States and several other countries were submitted in the 2014 competition. Only 16 percent of entrants received a gold award.

The video, directed by Phoebe Ministries marketing staff and filmed by Thrive Media, captured Phoebe Berks independent living residents who competed in an Olympic-style event on June 17, 2013 on the Boardwalk recreational area of Phoebe Berks. The Berks Olympics featured eight teams of two competing in Bocce, Quoits, Shuffleboard and Putting. This video project was inspired by the documentary, Age of Champions, telling the story of a group of athletes chasing gold at the National Senior Olympics. Age of Champions was produced by Keith Ochwat, the keynote speaker of the Fall Phoebe Institute on Aging Conference which focused on senior wellness. Brynn Buskirk, Director of Marketing and Community Relations for Phoebe Ministries, says, “We showed this short video at the Phoebe Institute on Aging Conference after a screening of Age of Champions and were very happy with the way the films complimented each other. We are pleased to receive this award and it is a testament to Phoebe’s investment in senior wellness.”

AVA Digital Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization consists of several thousand marketing professionals. AMCP administers recognition programs, provides judges and rewards outstanding achievement and service to the profession. Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. As part of its mission, AMCP fosters and supports the efforts of creative professionals who contribute their unique talents to public service and charitable organizations.
