Phoebe Ministries Partners with Giving Tuesday on December 3, 2013

For the second year in a row, Phoebe Ministries will be participating in the national giving campaign, Giving Tuesday. December 3, 2013 marks the 2nd annual day of giving which celebrates philanthropy and volunteerism that supports non-profit organizations such as Phoebe Ministries. Phoebe is partnering with Giving Tuesday this year in asking the community to help support our mission by making donations to our organization, allowing us to provide our residents and their families with the utmost care and support that they need.

Over the past year, Phoebe provided more than $11.5 million in charitable care to our residents. Over 40% of our skilled care residents rely on Phoebe’s charitable care support, and that number has steadily grown over the years. Phoebe is steadfast in keeping our promise to serve the needs and to enhance the lives of our elders, their families and the broader community.

Some of the projects made possible by generous donations over the past year are extensive renovations to the Phoebe Allentown East Annex building, renovations to the Terrace at Phoebe Allentown and to Moyer Hall in Allentown’s Health Care Center, and beautiful new outdoor recreation areas at Phoebe Richland and Phoebe Berks. In addition to renovations, donations have also supported numerous resident events, amenities and activities.

In addition to these ongoing projects, our organization as a whole puts a lot of time and money into supporting our residents over the holidays through various holiday celebrations, donation of gifts, or just spending some extra time visiting with individuals. Christmas can be a lonely time, and we make sure that each one of our residents is engaged in some way.

As a nation, we recognize a day to give thanks along with two days for shopping deals each November. The main idea of Giving Tuesday is for your family, community, company or organization to come together to give something more to nonprofits that you care about. Giving Tuesday will inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities and give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support.
