Phoebe Ministries is excited to welcome two new members to its Governing Board. Carmen Bell, the Director of Healthy Aging at United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV), and Kenneth R. Charette, Esq., an attorney and shareholder for Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba. Both new appointments offer unparalleled expertise in senior living and health care.
Since 2017, Bell has been the Director of Healthy Aging, a United Way initiative that seeks to improve the health and safety of seniors living in the Lehigh Valley. A well-connected community organizer and influential member of the Lehigh Valley Alliance on Aging, Bell has participated in the strategy formation of Age-Friendly Lehigh Valley. This regional initiative aims to improve inclusivity and accessibility, particularly for older adults, and has been integral to the success of the Alliance on Aging Public Policy Committee.
Before working for United Way, Bell was a Mental Health Technician for KidsPeace for 19 years while simultaneously working as a Customer Relations Specialist for the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANTA) for two years.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The City University of New York.
Bell also sits on the Phoebe Institute on Aging (PIA) Advisory Board, which creates and supports Phoebe’s forward-focused conferences designed to promote improved quality of life and care for the aging and their families.
Kenneth R. Charette, Esq. is a shareholder in Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba’s Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate, and Healthcare practice group and is Chair of the Food & Beverage industry group. Charette assists entrepreneurs, start-ups, privately held businesses, and capital partners with complex business transactions.
In his healthcare law practice, he counsels hospitals, surgery centers, medical group practices, independent living facilities, personal care facilities, and other health care providers (as well as individual physicians). Charette focuses on transactions specific to the health care industry, such as regulatory compliance issues involving HIPAA’s patient privacy rules.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University, a Juris Doctorate from Penn State University, and a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge.
Charette is a member of Phoebe’s Audit, Finance, and Investment Committee and Golf Tournament Committee.
