Highlights of the 2021 Phoebe Golf Tournament & PIA Un-Gala

Phoebe Golf Tournament

On Monday, August 9, the annual Phoebe Golf Tournament teed off at Saucon Valley Country Club. This annual fundraising event solicits funds for our charitable care program, which provides residents and their families the security of knowing that they will not be turned away if they run out of financial resources.

The Phoebe Golf Tournament has taken place for 13 years, and has generated over $1.35 million to support charitable care. According to Stacy Prohaska, Phoebe’s Executive Director of Philanthropy, “More than half of our residents in skilled nursing rely on Phoebe’s promise of charitable care. We are honored to support these residents, and we are grateful to the many donors and sponsors who support them by competing in our annual Tournament.”

Many thanks to the Golf Committee for their hard work planning the event, and special thanks to Tournament Title Sponsor Wohlsen Construction, lead sponsors Morgan Stanley, Stevens & Lee, and Fitzpatrick, Lentz & Bubba, and many other sponsors.

Because of our sponsors and individual participants, over $107,000 (net) was raised to support charitable care at Phoebe. Information about tournament sponsors, and winners, can be found at Phoebe.org/golf.

We look forward to seeing everyone at next year’s event on August 8, 2022 at Saucon Valley Country Club!

Un-Gala

The Phoebe Institute on Aging (PIA) Un-Gala: Twilight in Tuscany was held on September 23 at the Folino Estate Vineyard and Winery in Kutztown. Presented by Citizens, this much-anticipated event offered a new twist to the annual benefit dinner that raises funds for the PIA. Guests were asked to leave their suits, stilettos, and ties at home and enjoy a casual evening enjoying a variety of traditional Tuscan experiences.

Festivities included strolling music by the Dolcetto Trio, Tuscany Toss, Bocce, a grape stomping display, and a feast of Italian delicacies. Attendees sampled Folino wines, sangrias, antipasti, entrees, and more!

Phoebe President and CEO Scott Stevenson presented the Rev. Dr. Grant Harrity Award for Exemplary Service to the Aging to 2020 recipients, Mitch and Jami Possinger, and 2021 recipients, Bob and Judy Miller. The Harrity Award is presented to individuals whose leadership, service, and commitment help to advance the aging services field.

Twilight in Tuscany ended with Phoebe residents, staff, and guests of the Un-Gala participating in the traditional Italian dance – the Tarantella. The Lehigh Valley Italian-American Band provided the music, and also serenaded guests with classic Frank Sinatra and other tunes from the Big Band era.

Many thanks to the Un-Gala Committee for their hard work preparing for this unique event. We also extend our gratitude to our generous supporters, including presenting sponsor Citizens and lead sponsors Arbor Insurance Group and Truist.
