Deborah was appointed to the Phoebe Ministries Board of Trustees in January, 2008 and also serves on the Phoebe Institute on Aging Board. Her professional career began after finishing graduate school at Temple University and as an Assistant Evening Supervisor of Nursing at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia. She was hired as the first Executive Director of Lutheran Services of the Lehigh Valley. She has actively pursued legislation and policy reform toward the realization of equality and justice for all people, particularly women. Employed as professor of Criminal Justice and Women’s Studies at Kutztown University, she received the Ph.D. in Social Policy from the Union Institute in Cincinnati in 1996.
Sieger was appointed by the Governor to the Commission on Municipal Police Education and Training and serves on the Governance Committee of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. She served for a decade on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Community Practice and Administration, has presented papers and workshops at national conferences, and has appeared on numerous television and radio shows about justice and social change issues.
