Phoebe Wyncote provides for the spiritual care of residents and staff through a comprehensive pastoral care program, paying close attention to the spiritual well-being of every resident regardless of denomination or faith.
Meet Chaplain Jennifer Smith
Jenny Smith recently began her work at Phoebe Wyncote as staff chaplain this past April. A recent graduate from Phoebe’s Clinical Pastoral Education program, Chaplain Smith had already gotten to know the staff and residents at Wyncote, making her a natural choice when the position became available. Smith has a Master’s Degree in General Experimental Psychology from the State University College at Genesee, NY and a Master of Divinity Degree from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, PA. She brings years of experience as an applied psychologist in the corporate world and has also been teaching Comparative Religions for several years. Chaplain Smith is currently working toward the final steps toward her ordination in the UCC and is currently licensed through the UCC for her work at Phoebe Wyncote.
We view aging as a spiritual journey, a time for new opportunities and a time for harvesting the wisdom of the ages. We begin to harvest this wisdom by providing opportunities for reflection and sharing with persons of all ages. Worship, Bible Study and Life Review sessions provided opportunities for residents to discover wisdom and healing in their later years.
