Phoebe Allentown Throws It Back to the ‘50s
Residents of Phoebe Allentown and generous Century Circle donors were treated to a blast from the past at a 1950s-themed party on June 14th, 2024.
Taking place at Miller Personal Care Home, the event featured ‘50s-era décor filled with retro iconography—such as jukeboxes, leather jackets, and souped-up hot rods.
As guests filtered in, many opted to wear sunglasses or chiffon scarves that staff and volunteers handed out, traveling back to the era with their iconic styles. The room was an explosion of color from both the decorations and accessories worh by residents as everyone settled in.
“Robin and Jim,” a musical duo, featuring Robin Sands on vocals and Jim Seip on keys, gave a rousing performance for the duration of the event. The band incorporated crowd participation, playing a series of greatest hits from the 1950’s while prompting several sing-along moments.
Meanwhile, staff and volunteers took orders for sweet treats consisting of many flavors of ice cream and root bear floats, mimicking that of a small-town diner.
Century Circle members and Phoebe residents spent valuable time together as the room enjoyed the sounds of the ‘50s for hours. The event closed out with ‘50s trivia centered around sports and pop culture of the time.
